Terminology

Web Standards
The collection of standards and requirements that define how websites on the asu.edu domain should look and function. Currently on “version 2” but the standard continuously evolves over time and must be re-integrated into sites on a regular basis.

Unity (Unity Design System or UDS)
A library of code and design examples that implement Web Standards and can be used by developers to more easily and consistently build web platforms like Webspark and The College Drupal Distribution.

The College Drupal Distribution 
A website platform that uses Drupal 9, ASU Web standards version 2. It is developed and supported as a service by The College web team for units within The College.

Webspark 1 
A website platform that uses Drupal 7, ASU Web standards version 1, developed by UTO, no longer supported.

Webspark 2
A website platform that uses Drupal 9, ASU Web standards version 2, developed by UTO, supported by UTO.

Website
We define a website as a collection of pages, with only one main navigation bar uniformly displayed across all pages, accessible from a unique *.asu.edu domain. Each website requires its own Service Agreement with The College.
